Shopping for baby shower gifts might be one of my greatest joys in life! I love spoiling new mamas. When I saw this bare wood “baby block” at Hobby Lobby I knew I wanted to use it as my “vessel” for my client-turned-friend’s gift! Highly recommend waiting for one of their 40-50% off sales. This one was 40% off all bare wood items which brough my total to a less than $18!
Since this shower… well, “sprinkle” is a surprise gender I grabbed some sage [wasabi] green acrylic paint for the accent color, along with a can of white paint + primer. After a quick white coat, I let it airdry outside, and it was ready for the trim! I love the way the sage green turned out, and I only did one coat, so the woodgrain still came through.
Once all of the paint was dry and I was happy with the coverage I ended up filling the bottom with a small cardboard box to help lift the items up! Small baby items really add up and this box would have devoured them. If I had to do it over again, I would buy one or two bulky items or maybe a pack of diapers for the bottom layer. Time to fill!
I had a few different ideas for the top lid… including little sockies (but what babe actually wears socks), Door Dash gift cards, or just a fun little inspiring note! I would LOVE to see or hear your ideas in the comments! This will definitely be my go-to for future shower gifts.
